Cape Fear Garden Club holds annual grant disbursement event
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — More than 20 non-profits and schools received grants as part of the Cape Fear Garden Club’s annual grant disbursement event.
More than $77,000 worth of grants were given out to organizations like the Burgwin-Wright House, the Good Shepherd Center and the Lower Cape Fear Historical Society.
Additionally, standing grants were paid to Audubon North Carolina for Battery Island, along with scholarships for one UNCW student and two students at Cape Fear Community College.
Sandy Cyphers is the garden club’s disbursement chair.
She said it meant a lot to the club to give back to the organizations that support them.
“Well, I think it warms our heart and gives us that really good feeling that we are doing something that we are giving back to the community and making an impact on beautification and on scholarships,” Cyphers said.
To date, more than $1.3 million have been returned to New Hanover County.
