Cape Fear Garden Club honors grant recipients
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Local gardeners gathered to celebrate a growing legacy as the Cape Fear Garden Club unveiled its latest grant recipients.
The club announced that last year’s garden tours generated over $75,000, funds that will support various local nonprofits and initiatives.
Among the recipients, two scholarships were awarded: one to a student at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) and another to a mom returning to school at Cape Fear Community College.
Goldie Stetten, Chair of Grant Disbursement, highlighted the lasting impact of the garden tour on the community. She stated, “The garden tour is, I don’t know, 75 years old; we’ve been doing it a long time here in Wilmington, and contributing the funds back to the community every year helps make Wilmington a more beautiful city in many ways.”
The grants will specifically support projects focused on beautification, education, and environmental initiatives in New Hanover County.
