Cape Fear Museum park featured on Azalea Garden Tour
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Did you know there’s a garden at the Cape Fear Museum?
It’s featured on this year’s Cape Fear Azalea Festival Garden Tour.
The Cape Fear Museum Park complements the museum’s exhibits while taking advantage of being an outdoor, living environment.
The park opened in 2015.
It’s a playful space that uses the landscape as a teaching tool that encourages learning all along the park’s paths.
The garden features exhibits about plants, weather, boats and more.
By introducing native plant species, the park has created a new habitat and food sources for birds, butterflies and other wildlife.
“It’s an education park and it teaches people about the types of native plants they might want to put in their own garden so we’re really excited to partner with the Cape Fear Garden Club to be on the tour to show people what you can do in your yard,” Cape Fear Museum Director Sheryl Mays said.
If you have a ticket for the Azalea Festival Garden Tour you will be able to use that ticket to get into the museum for free.
The Cape Fear Museum will also host a wet paint sale Sunday where artist who have painted the gardens will come and sell their art.
The Cape Fear Garden Club’s Azalea Garden Tour runs Friday through Sunday.
