Cape Fear residents try their luck as Powerball, Mega Millions jackpots reach $1.9 billion combined

LELAND, NC (WWAY)– If you’ve been thinking of playing the lottery, this week might be a good time to start. 

There are a couple of chances to get your hands on some massive lottery payouts. 

Monday night’s Powerball jackpot is worth a whopping 800-million dollars, with Tuesday night’s mega millions draw worth 1.1 billion dollars.   

The C Store in Leland just one of many lottery retailers seeing lots of people coming in to buy tickets, for a chance to win some life-changing money. 

Douglas Titus was one of them, buying his tickets this afternoon.   

He says if he hits the jackpot, he will give it to his children so they can pay off their mortgages.   

“Are the winning numbers on there?” “Absolutely! I keep trying, but you have to be in it to win it, right? Could even give you some!”  Titus said.  

You can’t win if you don’t play, so get your tickets before the Powerball drawing Monday night, and mega millions drawing Tuesday night.
