Cape Fear residents prepare for Super Bowl

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Millions of Americans, including thousands in Cape Fear, got ready to watch the Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.

While some people were preparing to go to their favorite bar to watch the game, others were getting ready to spend time with friends and family at home.

From Harris Teeter to Wal-Mart, stores were packed as people made sure to stock up on all of the snacks needed to feed their guests.

Southport resident Aaron Campbell made the drive up to Wilmington to go to a friend’s watch party.

“This is actually the first year we’re doing it with this little, this friend group that we have,” Campbell said. “We just going over to a buddy’s house, making some food.”

While other people like Scott Serkin prepared for a much smaller gathering.

“I’m gonna watch it with my kids, maybe one or two of their friends and hopefully its just a good game,” Serkin said. “There’s no usual really, sometimes we’ll go to one and I think we’re just looking for a little lowkey experience this time.”

Cesar Martinez said he couldn’t wait to watch the big game, even if he was going to be outnumbered.

“Oh that’s amazing man cause like not, not all of us are going for the same teams. Like, I’m actually going to a Philadelphia house so we, we about to see how this goes.”
