Captain J.P. III to be repaired after getting stuck under bridge
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Henrietta III, now the Captain J.P. III, which used to sit on the Cape Fear River, was recovered after getting stuck under a bridge on the Hudson River.
The four-deck ship drifted downriver from Troy toward Albany and got stuck for hours beneath a railroad bridge.
Two Coast Guard ice-breaking cutters and two commercial tug boats worked to pull it free.
Once the ice breaks up enough the Captain J.P. III will be taken from its current location to be repaired.
It should be back up and running in about two months.
