Capt’n Bill’s celebrates 34 years in Wilmington with anniversary volleyball tournament
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Capt’n Bill’s Backyard Grill is excited to mark 34 years of great food, fun, and meaningful community involvement with a special anniversary celebration on Saturday, March 7th at Capt’n Bill’s Backyard Grill & Volleyball Facility in Wilmington.
Established in 1992 and proudly owned and operated by the Musser Family, Capt’n Bill’s started as a neighborhood restaurant and bar featuring four sand volleyball courts. Over the past three decades, it has evolved into a Wilmington favorite, now offering a full-service restaurant, bar, brewery, and twelve sand volleyball courts — earning its reputation as one of the region’s top destinations for beach volleyball and community events.
Beyond dining and recreation, Capt’n Bill’s has built strong ties within the Wilmington community. Working alongside the vibrant local volleyball community, the Musser Family has contributed more than $1,000,000 to local charities, supporting numerous organizations and initiatives across the Cape Fear region.

The 34th Anniversary Celebration will feature a charity volleyball tournament with proceeds benefiting Happy and Sunshine Pig Sanctuary.
