Car maintenance tips after the winter storm

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — It’s uncommon to see snow and ice in the Cape Fear but last week’s rare winter storm could create some wear and tear on your car.
It is important to double check your windshield wiper blades as ice builds up the rubber on the pads can cause the blades to break.
They recommend getting a car wash that will clean the undercarriage to prevent rust build-up.
Stephen Lazar is a service writer at Meineke Car Care Center in Leland and says there’s something else you need to check.
“You just want to generally check your tire health particularly so when the weather gets a little bit icy you won’t be slipping around as much. As the weather does get colder, we also see a lot of batteries on the vehicle going out,” Lazar said.
Lazar says after a winter storm like last week, the biggest thing you need to keep up with is your vehicle’s routine maintenance.
Lazar also mentioned that, although it got cold, it did not get cold enough to affect the motor oil.
