Carolina Beach and NCDOT join for golf cart driving workshop

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The town of Carolina Beach held a workshop Tuesday night about rules and regulations for driving golf carts on the town’s roads.

Carolina Beach police have been ticketing golf cart drivers in 45 mile per hour zones on the island as it is illegal to drive one on a road with a speed limit above 35 in North Carolina.

About 30 people attended the workshop. Carolina Beach Town Council and residents discussed issues of safety, speed limits and regulations.

There was also a representative from the NCDOT at the workshop to answer any questions the public might have.

“I appreciate their taking the time to hear, you know, residents like myself’s concerns, but I think they need to address, like, the speed limit and I don’t think you can, you know, take it out on everybody for one or two bad drivers,” Carolina Beach resident Harry Papazian said.

No decisions were made Tuesday night about golf carts in Carolina Beach.
