Carolina Beach hosts 20th Anniversary Lo Tide Run
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY)– Hundreds of people gathered on Charlotte Avenue of Carolina Beach for the 20th Anniversary of the Steve Haydu St. Patrick’s Lo Tide Run.
Race participants, spectators, and organizers were all decked out in green in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day this weekend.
The flat course took runners through the town of Carolina Beach, perfects for everyone of all ages and abilities.
Runners and walkers were on their marks to begin the 10K race at 8 a.m., and the 5K began shortly after at 8:15 a.m.
The fastest time for the 10K was 34 minutes and 3 seconds, while the fastest 5K time was 16 minutes and 56 seconds.
As a certified non-profit, the race is done in efforts to to raise money for New Hanover County residents struggling financially due to a cancer diagnosis.
Following the race, the St. Patrick’s celebrations continued all throughout the town with live music, food, and drinks.
