Carolina Beach Lake Park dredging project going as planned

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) —  If you’ve driven or walked by Carolina Beach Lake Park lately, you’ve probably noticed all the equipment for the on-going dredging project.

While it may look like not much has changed over the past few months the town says they are not behind schedule.

Town Manager Michael Cramer said the contractor has until February 8, 2018 to complete the project. He says this is the first time the lake has been dredged to this extent.

The contractor is currently testing a variety of ways to dredge the lake that is most cost and time efficient.

The lake was on average only 18 inches deep and this project will make it six to eight feet deep allowing storm water run off to not overflow and flood areas around it.
