Carolina Beach resident holding GoFundMe to help businesses still recovering from Monday’s storm
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — It’s been several days since Monday’s storm dropped more than 20 inches of rain on Carolina Beach and the town is still recovering.
Carolina Beach Mayor Lynn Barbee told WWAY earlier this week that around 10% of the town’s businesses are still closed due to damage from the storm.
To help those businesses who are struggling to reopen, Carolina Beach resident Amy Farrell started a GoFundMe.
So far, she has raised over $1000, which she plans to share with the businesses around town.
Farrell said any donation will help the town and its businesses recover.
“People that have given to us, they give so much out to us, I just want to give back to them,” Farrell said. “So, I just, I love Carolina Beach and it’s a good spot. If you can reach out, if you can donate, if you can like, just furniture or just a dollar, like that would help a lot.”
The GoFundMe has a goal of $5000.
