UPDATE: Carolina Surf Condos undergoing extensive repairs
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — An update now to a story WWAY has been following since last summer. Work on Carolina Surf Condos in Carolina Beach should finish in early 2019.
The town originally condemned the condos in 2017 after inspectors found significant corrosion in the steel.
Assistant Town Manager Ed Parvin said the extensive structural repairs underneath the building are finished.
The structural steel on the east side has either been repaired or replaced.
Crews are currently working on reframing the exterior, which should last another 90 days.
Work on the facade should start in late fall.
