Castle Hayne death investigation continues, woman identified

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the death of a woman this weekend in Castle Hayne.

Investigators identified her as Mary Elizabeth Hewlett, 36. Deputies were dispatched to 4528 Parmele Rd. shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday. EMS was also on scene and attempted life saving measures, but they were unsuccessful a sheriff’s spokesman said. Detectives arrived on scene and began their investigation.

The sheriff’s office plans to release additional information as it becomes available.
