WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College announces the graduation of the second cohort from its Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Pilot Program.

All 21 graduates from had a 100% passing rate on the State Comprehensive Exam, a distinction achieved by only a select few community colleges.

In addition, 18 graduates have already secured employment with law enforcement agencies across the region – New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, Wilmington Police Department, Surf City Police Department, Oak Island Police Department, Bald Head Island Public Service, and Leland Police Department.

CFCC was among only two community colleges in North Carolina that offered a second round of the new BLET pilot program. It was developed in collaboration with the North Carolina Justice Academy and extended the traditional BLET curriculum by two hundred hours based on feedback from a statewide task analysis.

“The success of our graduates reflects the hard work and dedication of our students and instructors,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “This program equips graduates with the skills and training to serve and protect our communities. We are proud to support law enforcement agencies by providing well-prepared officers ready to make a difference.”
