CFCC cruises to easy win on MLK Day


WILMINGTON, NC (CFCC RELEASE) — The Cape Fear Community College men’s basketball team continued its five-game home stand on Martin Luther King Junior Day and the Sea Devils cruised to a 118-67 victory over Elite Basketball Sports Academy.

All seven players dressed for Cape Fear scored in double figures. Alonzo Tyson led the offensive attack with 24 points. T.J. Evans chipped in with 23 points and Tai-he Jeter added 17 points.

“I was very impressed with how we shared the ball today,” said CFCC Coach Ryan Mantlo. “Hopefully, we can continue to grow as unit and a solid defensive team headed into the month of February.”

Tyrek Coger, Matt Lindsey and Josh Lindsey contributed 13 points apiece, while Nelson McClain finished with 10.

The Sea Devils moved to 16-5 overall and remain 1-0 in conference play. Cape Fear returns to the floor for its cross-river rivalry game against Brunswick Community College at 7 p.m. on Friday.
