CFCC eliminating campus police, sheriff deputies will provide security
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College plans to get rid of its campus police and partner with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office to provide security.
Under the new partnership, deputies will be stationed on campus.
This announcement comes one day after the college announced it would eliminate some staff positions due to budget cuts.
CFCC says the decision to partner with the sheriff’s office is not based on the budget.
The transition will happen over the next 30 days.
Campus police will have the opportunity to apply for positions at the sheriff’s office.
