CFCC expands dental program with opening of new dental clinic

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College has opened a new dental clinic inside the Dan and Sheila Saklad Health and Human Services Center, expanding both its dental programs and community services.
According to a news release, the new facility has allowed CFCC to grow its Dental Assisting program from 18 to 30 students and its Dental Hygiene program from 12 to 20 students. The clinic itself has expanded from 12 to 30 patient operatories, doubling the number of community members who can receive preventive and restorative dental care.
Students will also train with new advanced dental simulation mannequins, giving them realistic, hands-on practice before treating patients.
“Our new dental clinic is more than just an educational facility; it’s a community resource,” said CFCC President Jim Morton. “We’re training the next generation of dental professionals while meeting a critical need for accessible dental services.”
