WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College’s Commercial, Fine, and Performing Arts Department will present its 2026 spring play, Bacchae, a classic Greek tragedy by Euripides.

The story follows the god Dionysus as he returns to his birthplace to reclaim his divine heritage. His arrival sparks conflict with the new ruler, who attempts to suppress Dionysus’ influence, exploring themes of power, control, and human desire.

The production will feature students and faculty directing, designing, and performing the play. Performances are scheduled for April 16–18 and April 23–25 at 7 p.m. each evening. Shows will be held in the Studio Theatre at the rear of CFCC’s Wilson Center on Hanover Street.

Tickets are available online at WilsonCenterTickets.com or through the box office by phone or in person. Prices are $15 for the general public, $10 for CFCC faculty and staff, and $5 for students and children. The box office is open Monday through Friday, 2–6 p.m., and can be reached at (910) 362-7999.
