CFCC hosts Community Resource Fair during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week

CASTLE HAYNE, NC (WWAY) — To honor National Crime Victims’ Rights Week this week the Cape Fear Community College hosted a community resource fair Tuesday at the North Campus.
Cape Fear Community College received a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office for Victims of Crime through the National Association of VOCA Assistance Administrators. This allowed them to hold both resource fairs.
The resource fair featured community organizations dedicated to crime protection and victim advocacy.
In order to offer practical safety tips, presentations were also held in the BB & T Auditorium.
The event was free and open to the public.
Former district attorney and current CEO of the community justice center Ben David explains their goal.
“We’re spending a lot of this week to get out in the community and remind people that this abuse is frequently in cycles. A cycle of poverty, a cycle of violence, a cycle of addiction. The way you break that is very frequently reaching out for help and getting the resources you need,” David said.
Another community resource fair will be held at the Union station on the CFCC downtown campus Thursday from 11am – 1pm.
The 2025 theme, KINSHIP, is a call to action, reminding us that our shared humanity should guide how we support survivors. KINSHIP emphasizes standing alongside survivors and fostering meaningful connections to services, justice, and healing.
