CFCC students build dog houses to raise money for veteran scholarships
CASTLE HAYNE, NC (WWAY) — Students at Cape Fear Community College are getting into the giving spirit by raising money to help veterans go to school. The carpentry students at CFCC’s North Campus built ten dog houses for their final project this semester and now they are selling them to raise money for a scholarship fund for veteran students at the college.
Program director David Cameron said the students get to pick what organization they want the money to go to each year.
“The feel good situation for them is fantastic. They love hands on. The hands on thing is where they learn most from roofing and siding to trying to do things in the correct manner,” Cameron said.
Cameron said they still have two dog houses for sale. They are $50 each and you can purchase one by contacting the carpentry department.
