CFCC to expand evening class options in technical programs

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College is expanding evening class offerings in several high-demand technical programs this fall.

The college says it is designed for students with daytime commitments, these night courses span multiple in-demand fields, including Architectural Technology, Construction Management Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology

“These new evening courses provide more flexibility for adult learners, career changers, and those seeking to upskill while maintaining employment,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “These programs lead to job opportunities in high-demand architecture, construction, engineering support, and manufacturing technology fields.”

New evening offerings beginning this fall include:

  • Architectural Technology
    • ARC 1111: Introduction to Architectural Technology – Foundation course exploring design principles, construction basics, and the architectural profession.
    • ARC114/114A: Architectural CAD and Lab – Hands-on training in computer-aided design tools used across the industry.
    • ARC250: Survey of Architecture – Overview of architectural history, styles, and cultural influences.
  • Construction Management Technology Certificate Program
    • BPR130: Print Reading – Interpretation of prints and specifications that are associated with design and construction projects
    • CMT210: Construction Management Fund – Fundamentals of effective supervision emphasized through knowledge and applied skills.
  • Mechanical Engineering Technology Certificate Program
    • DFT151: CAD I – Introduces CAD software as a drawing tool. Topics include drawing, editing, file management, and plotting.
    • EGR110: Intro to Engineering Tech – General topics relevant to engineering technology, including career assessment, professional ethics, critical thinking and problem solving, usage of college resources for study and research, and using tools for engineering computation.
