CFCC to offer New Food Service Courses beginning in April

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College will begin offering two new continuing education courses this April – Food Service 101 and ServSafe® Manager Certification.
The courses are designed to help individuals gain essential skills and credentials for working in the food service and hospitality industries.
The Food Service 101 course, offered at CFCC’s Surf City Center, introduces participants to the fundamentals of working in the food service industry. The course covers essential topics such as kitchen operations, food safety basics, and customer service skills, providing foundational knowledge for individuals interested in entering the hospitality and restaurant workforce.
The ServSafe Manager Certification course, offered at CFCC’s Downtown Wilmington campus, provides comprehensive training in food safety management practices and regulatory compliance required in commercial kitchens and restaurants.
Special attention is given to seafood handling, seasonal workforce management, and high-tourism service models common in the Cape Fear region. The course concludes with participants taking the ServSafe® Manager Certification Exam, a widely recognized credential that demonstrates understanding of key food safety practices required for work in restaurants and commercial kitchens.

The cost for each course is $70. Participants may be eligible for a fee waiver.
