CFCC women’s basketball win first round game in national juco tourney


OVERLAND PARK, KS (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Community College women’s basketball team has advanced to the second round of the NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball Tournament in Kansas. The Sea Devils beat St. Clair 71-52 in the first round matchup. This is the first appearance in the national juco tourney for the CFCC women. The program didn’t even start until 2012. Lori Drake served as the head coach at CFCC the first three seasons. Chris Harris is the head coach.

Cape Fear earned the sixth seed in the bracket after garnering national attention throughout the NJCAA Division II Top 20 poll for most of the season. The Sea Devils face No. 11 St. Clair County Community College from Port Huron, Michigan.

 

The Sea Devils are now 26-1 overall.
