CFCC’s Wilson Center planning more Broadway shows next season
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College’s Wilson Center has only been open for 9 months, and so far the director says things are going extremely well.
“We’ve had amazing success with multiple sell-outs for a majority of our Cape Fear stage programs and huge community involvement,” Wilson Center Director Shane Fernando said.
Fernando said ticket revenue is around $2.3 million, about 75% of the shows have sold out, and about 30% of the audience is coming from out of town.
“We’re actually seeing a, not only a regional and statewide draw, but national and international draw to Wilmington for our programming,” Fernando said.
Some shows were doing so well, the Wilson Center has added even more shows to its calendar for the upcoming year.
“Broadway has been immensely successful, for example, and because of its success we have doubled our Broadway programming for next year,” Fernando said. “So we’re going from three shows to six shows.”
Fernando added that the Wilson Center provides an opportunity for hands on learning and that CFCC students have helped with every single show.
