CFPUA issues a precautionary boil water advisory for several areas

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Public Utility Authority issued a precautionary boil water advisory on Tuesday night for several locations.

CFPUA crews have shifted the outer southbound lane to allow single lane traffic in the 100 block of South 3rd Street while crews make repairs to a 4” water main.

CFPUA said emergency contractor States Utilities is making repairs to a 12” water main, and there are 40 customers impacted by the outage. CFPUA crews have shifted the outer southbound lane of Carolina Beach Road and the outer westbound lane of Shipyard Blvd. to allow single-lane travel in the area.

This precautionary boil water advisory is for:

  • 500, 600, 700 blocks of Shipyard Blvd
  • 2518 & 2543 Carolina Beach Road
  • 201 – 305 Oakhurst Road
  • All of Wildwood Circle
  • The 400 block of Baytree Road

CFPUA said affected customers should use boiled water that has cooled or bottled water for:

  • Drinking.
  • Brushing teeth.
  • Washing fruits and vegetables.
  • Preparing food and baby formula.
  • Making ice.
  • Giving to pets.

CFPUA said customers do not need to boil water prior to using it for showering or bathing.

CFPUA added the precautionary boil water advisory will be in effect until water quality testing has occurred and service is returned to normal.
