CFPUA: Metal in water still too high at VA clinic
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A spokesman with the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority said while they wait for new testing of the VA clinic’s water in Wilmington, a recent sample shows metal in the water is still too high, and unsafe.
Mike McGill said Thursday afternoon CFPUA took samples after consulting with the VA. The samples were not taken by the building owner and are not part of the three-week process to lift the Do Not Use Water advisory.
McGill said the results show areas were still higher than the EPA’s standards for safe water.
While officials wait for a new water test, the VA has asked for pro-rated rent and damages from the building owner, Summit Smith Healthcare Facilities. The owner, however, says CFPUA doesn’t have the authority to shut down the water.
