CFPUA flushing water lines this week

WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) – It’s that time of year when Cape Fear Public Utility Authority crews perform system flushing to improve water quality in our service area. Beginning this Sunday night, November 28th, CFPUA will begin its comprehensive drinking water system flushing in the area identified as 1A on the attached map. Flushing of lines will occur Sunday night through Thursday morning between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Additional areas will be flushed and News Releases and maps will be provided for each stage as it is scheduled.

During these hours, customers in the flushing area may experience decreased water pressure and discolored water, therefore, we suggest that they refrain from washing clothes and minimize their use of water. Especially hot water because it could take a long period of time to clear should discolored water enter their water heater. It is possible that some customers could experience a small amount of discoloration on the following morning and they should run their cold water for 3-5 min.
