Charlie Brown corn maze to open in Chadbourn

CHADBOURN, NC (WWAY) — A Halloween tradition is having its 50th anniversary. The Halloween TV special “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,”  premiered 50 years ago.

To help celebrate, The Farmer’s Barn in Chadbourn has a Charlie Brown themed corn maze. This is the family’s second year running a corn maze.

They were hoping to open the maze a few weeks ago, but were delayed by rains and flooding from Hurricane Matthew.

The opening for this year’s maze is scheduled for Friday, October 21.

“We usually have two weekends, two to three weekends to where we will have a section of the maze that’s a haunted maze,” Farmer’s Barn Corn Maze Co-Owner Nicky Hobbs said. “Now, you don’t have to go in that portion if you’re that type of person that’s a little bit on edge, but we do have a section of it that is haunted and that’s always been a really big attraction, or it was last year.”

The Farmer’s Barn also has a cow train, a slide, a zip line, a corn bin (like a sandbox), photo boards, a hay ride, and a giant rocking chair the whole family can fit in.

You can catch “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” on Wednesday, October 19 at 8 p.m. on WWAY.

The Farmer’s Barn is planning to have a live screening of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” on Saturday, October 29.
