Charlotte man arrested after allegedly fleeing police in Pender County

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — A Charlotte man is facing numerous charges after allegedly running from police U.S. Highway 117 during a traffic stop.

According to the magistrate’s orders, an officer with the Burgaw Police Department attempted to stop the vehicle on Wednesday for a traffic violation.

At the time, the suspect, 22-year-old Sincere Watkins was speeding and driving negligently leading to an accident, causing property damage. The magistrate’s order described the property as, “White two-story residence the property of Thompson Surveying Company.”

The order also says an officer was commanding Watkins to stop running and he didn’t.

According to court records, Watkins was also in possession of gun and drugs.

Watkins is being charged with the following:

  • Flee/elude arrest with motor vehicle
  • Driving while licensed revoked
  • Resisting public officer
  • Driving recklessly
  • Injury to real property
  • Exceeding posted speed
  • Failure to burn headlamps
  • Fail to wear seat belt
  • Drive left of center
  • Possession of firearm by felon
  • Possession with intent to sell/deliver Marijuana
  • Felony possession of Scheduled VI Controlled Substance
  • Felony maintain vehicle
  • Three counts of identity theft
  • Possession of marijuana paraphernalia

Watkins was also wanted out of Mecklenburg County for assault causing serious bodily injury. Watkins is accused of breaking a woman’s eye socket.
