Chase suspect collides with multiple Wilmington Police cars in Brunswick County

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Some Wilmington Police were hit at the conclusion of a chase that expanded into multiple counties on Friday, November 28.
Around 3:53 p.m., Wilmington Police officers responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle taken from a convenience store located in the 3700 block of Carolina Beach Road. The vehicle was reported stolen with a dog inside.
Officers quickly located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit as the suspect traveled into Brunswick County.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol says the chase continued over the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge on Highway 17 and 74-76 in Brunswick County around 4 p.m.
Due to the nature of the incident, authorization was given to continue the pursuit. Brunswick County authorities and the Highway Patrol were notified for mutual awareness and assistance.
No officers sustained serious injuries, the suspect was taken into custody, and the dog was safely recovered.
