Chick Flick Film Festival showcases female filmmakers
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Female filmmakers from all over North Carolina gathered in the Port City this weekend for the first annual Chick Flick Film Festival.
Film lovers filled Morning Glory Coffeehouse on Dawson Street Saturday to watch a variety of films including narratives and documentaries.
In between films, female comedians and musicians showcased their talents throughout the day.
“We want to celebrate the power of women and film making,” filmmaker Rebecca Busch said. “We love to connect even with guys film makers because we need their support too.”
“We need our stories told from a female point of view and that’s the main thing.” Tanya Fermin, filmmaker, said.
After the last film, a social was held to meet the filmmakers. Organizers look forward to hold the event in years to come.
