WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Children were critically injured in a multi-vehicle collision Saturday on JK Powell Boulevard near West Oliver Street, according to the Whiteville Police Department.

The crash happened on July 5, when a white Dodge truck rear-ended a Chrysler minivan carrying four occupants, including children. The impact pushed the minivan into a Toyota RAV4, which then struck a Honda Civic. The Civic subsequently collided with a Tesla.

Whiteville police said the children in the minivan suffered critical injuries and were taken to a hospital in Chapel Hill for advanced treatment. The other people involved in the crash reported minor or no injuries.

As of Monday, no additional information had been released about the children’s conditions. No word yet on any charges.
