Children’s Museum of Wilmington executive director appointed to state science board

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The executive director of the Children’s Museum of Wilmington has been appointed to a statewide board focused on expanding science education and access to STEM learning.
The Children’s Museum of Wilmington announced that Executive Director Jessie Goodwin has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Science Network. The organization is a statewide association that promotes science education and supports informal STEM learning opportunities across North Carolina.
In her new role, Goodwin will help guide efforts to advance science education and expand access to high-quality STEM experiences for people of all ages.
Joseph Knight, president and board chair of the North Carolina Science Network, said Goodwin brings strong leadership experience and a commitment to early childhood education.
“As the leader of the Children’s Museum of Wilmington, Jessie brings a proven track record of organizational excellence and a deep commitment to early childhood education,” Knight said. “Her passion and expertise will enhance our efforts to expand informal STEM learning opportunities throughout the state.”
Goodwin’s career includes experience in both formal and informal education. She began as a classroom teacher before moving into museum leadership, experiences she says shaped her belief in hands-on learning at an early age.
“It is an honor to join the North Carolina Science Network Board of Directors,” Goodwin said. “At CMoW, we see every day how early, hands-on science builds confidence, curiosity and a sense of possibility in young learners.”
The Children’s Museum of Wilmington said Goodwin has worked closely with the North Carolina Science Network for several years and looks forward to continuing that partnership while contributing to its statewide mission.
