Christian Coalition to skip presidential primaries
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — An official says the once-powerful Christian Coalition of America will bypass the presidential primary contests entirely.
Coalition president Roberta Combs tells The Associated Press her group will focus on congressional races and will try to get more conservatives elected.
The conservative voting bloc is particularly important in early voting South Carolina. A third of Republican primary voters in 2000 described themselves as part of the white, religious right.
