UNITED STATES (CNN) — Even Santa has delivery deadlines.

To ensure gifts are under the tree in time for Christmas, the United States Postal Service (USPS) urged people to be mindful of when their packages need to be shipped out.

USPS recommended that holiday mail be sent out by December 16th, in order for it to arrive by Christmas.

But, if you are choosing priority shipping, you have four extra days to get those packages to the post office.

Meanwhile, FedEx suggested a shipping date no later than December 15th for five-day home delivery.

And, USPS added that packages should be shipped by December 19th using three-day select, if they are to be delivered by Saturday, December 23rd.
