City Council approves cottage cluster housing
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington will soon see a different style of housing.
The Wilmington City Council approved a final vote Tuesday night to allow courtyard-style housing.
The cottages would be small, single-family, homes clustered around a common courtyard area. Essentially, the homes would be centered around a green space. It would be a community where parking isn’t the focus but the community is.
Developers said the type of developments would maximize the number of homes in a smaller amount of space and help grow a stronger sense of community.
The cottage cluster style neighborhoods will be developed within the next 1 to 2 years.
