City of Whiteville Fire Marshal shuts down building
WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — The Whiteville Fire Marshal shuts down a building due to unsafe conditions.
Officials say that the Fun-ctionz Venue & Lounge at 910 S. Madison Street was shut down over the weekend because it was operating illegally and having parties and that it may be connected to a police matter.
Some of the conditions being reported are:
- Inadequate means of egress
- Illegal and improper occupancy
- Inadequate fire protection systems
- No illuminated exit signs
- No illumination of exit ways
- Improper door swing and panic hardware
According to Whiteville Police, there was a shooting Saturday night at Fun-ctionz Venue & Lounge.
There was an altercation inside the venue which then extended to the outside. The Chief said several parities were involved and there was an exchange of gunfire.
