Clear winner in Atkinson mayoral race

ATKINSON — Even though no one was actually running for mayor of the Pender County town of Atkinson there is a clear winner of last night’s election.

Eighty-three of the 104 write-in votes were for the town’s current mayor, Jack Turner. He’s been mayor for several terms. In fact, he was voted in by write-ins in 2005 also.

We tried calling Mr Turner to see how he feels about being voted in again, but were unable to reach him for comment.
