Clerks tied up in late night Family Dollar armed robbery

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Officials are investigating after a Thursday night armed robbery in Wilmington.

According to New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, Lt. Jerry Brewer, it happened at the Family Dollar at 2616 Castle Hayne Road around 10:30 p.m.

Lt. Brewer says as the store was about to close, three men in dark clothing with their faces covered entered the store with guns and demanded money.

The clerks gave the suspects money from the cash register and the safe.

The suspects then tied up the clerks with duct tape before running away.
