Closure planned on Wilmington road

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A section of Blue Clay Road will be closed for a pipe replacement starting Monday.

According to a release from the NCDOT, lanes in both directions on Blue Clay Road will be closed 0.35 miles north of North Kerr Avenue. The closure will start on Monday, February 29th at 8 A.M. and continue until Friday, March 11th at 5 P.M.

To avoid the area, the NCDOT has set up a detour from Kerr Avenue to U.S. 117 (College Road).

The release said the Maintenance Department will be replacing an existing pipe to reduce flooding upstream as well as reducing the chance of water flooding the road during severe rain.
