Coast Guard helps medevac man near Beaufort

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Coast Guard and a Seatow crew rescued an injured man south of Beaufort, Sunday.

Officials at the Sector North Carolina Command Center in Wilmington received a report just before 2 p.m. that a man had cut his foot on an oyster bed on Carrot Island.

A crew launched from Station Fort Macon at 2 p.m. A Seatow vessel crew arrived before the Coast Guard.

The Seatow crew transferred the man from the beach to their boat and brought him to Olde Town Yacht Club on Radio Island, where the Coast Guard crew took him aboard gave him first aid.

The Coast Guard took the man to Portside Marina in Morehead City and transferred him to Carteret County EMS.
