Coastal Christian advances with 5-0 shutout over Fayetteville Christian

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – Coastal Christian did all of their damage in the first half as they knocked off Fayetteville Christian 5-0 in the second round of the NCISAA girls soccer playoffs.
Already up 3-0, Mady Burnham added an assist to her pair of goals when she sent a pass ahead to Paige Everett, who then scored with 2:11 to go before halftime. M.C. Shearin then sent a long shot towards the net that Randi Short managed to redirect in with just 54 seconds remaining before the break.
Coastal will next face top-seeded Cape Fear Academy on Saturday at 1 p.m. This after the Centurions have won their two playoff games by a combined score of 13-1.
“I would say that our team is really good with movement in the back and in the front, especially in the middle,” Everett said. “I’d say we’re pretty solid in our pressue and keeping composure. It turns out in the result. We get a lot of goals up and we just keep a good attitude because we’re doing it to glorify God at the end of the day. We have the same goal and same mindset. We’re ready for Saturday.”
Coastal won their most recent matchup against the Hurricanes 2-1 last week, but CFA knocked off the Centurions 1-0 earlier in the season.
