Coastal Christian’s Kinlaw overcomes adversity to play college ball
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)–Coastal Christian senior Zion Kinlaw didn’t have the typical path to college baseball, but he had his own path.
At the age of 10, Kinlaw developed a brain tumor that put his life and baseball career in jeopardy. He had the tumor removed in Chapel Hill and returned to the sport he loved. It took awhile for Zion to get back into swing of things, at first he had to wear a helmet anytime he was on the field.
Now almost eight years later he is signing he National Letter of Intent to continue his education and baseball career at Barton College.
“Whenever I have a goal I want to set, I always put it in my head. I always strive to do that. I set goals and try to achieve them as much as I can. I can only do that with support and with god,”said Kinlaw.
Zion and the Centurions begin their regular season on the baseball field on February 26th against Carolina Forest.
