WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Coastal Horizons will be hosting the 14th Annual Power of the Purse on March 19th, at 5:30 p.m. at the Country Club of Landfall.

Coastal Horizons says that this event blends philanthropy and fashion to support Wilmington Health Access for Teens (WHAT), ensuring youth in the community have access to vital healthcare services.

WHAT provides in-person and telehealth services for youth ages 6-24 through school-based health clinics at New Hanover County’s four traditional public high schools— Ashley, Hoggard, Laney, and New Hanover—as well as other educational institutions including GLOW Academy, DC Virgo, Cape Fear Center for Inquiry, SEA-TECH, Career Readiness Academy at Mosley, and Classical Charter Schools of Wilmington. In addition, WHAT operates an office at 1414 Medical Center Drive in Wilmington and offers services at Nunnelee Pediatric Multispecialty Care. Services include primary care, psychiatric care, and mental health therapy. WHAT serves all youth, including those on Medicaid and the uninsured.

“This event directly supports critical healthcare services for New Hanover County’s youth,” said Margaret Weller-Stargell, President & CEO of Coastal Horizons. “By coming together as a community, we can make a lasting difference.”

The event will feature silent and live auctions with designer handbags and luxury items, plus a raffle for a brand-new Louis Vuitton purse valued at $2,450 ($25 per ticket). Online bidding and donations are available at https://pop25.givesmart.com.
