Cody Arnoux ends soccer career in the same place he started it
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cody Arnoux couldn’t hold back the tears on Saturday after leaving the field for the last time as a player at Legion Stadium. The tears had nothing to do with the 2-2 tie against Toronto, instead, it was Arnoux’s last game in a Wilmington Hammerheads uniform. In fact the New Hanover High graduate is retiring as a pro soccer player. “I am in awe in the amount of support I’ve had from people throughout my career with people coming out to games in the Wilmington community,” Arnoux told WWAY after Saturday’s game. “I couldn’t have picked a better place to end than the place where it all began. I think it is time to jump into something else. It’s time for me to take the next step and the next chapter. I am on the hunt. I am not sure where I’ll be next year, but I’ll be cheering on the Hammerheads wherever I am.”
Cody Arnoux joined the Wilmington Hammerheads shortly after the 2012 soccer season began.
Troy Cole does plan on coming back though. We caught up with the fan favorite after Saturday’s 2-2 tie. “The longer I stay here the more I love it,” Cole said. “I would be blessed and grateful to play here again next year.
