Cold stunned turtles brought to North Carolina

SURFCITY, NC (WWAY) — 30 cold-stunned sea turtles were flown from Cape Cod to North Carolina for recovery.
All the turtles were rescued by Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, triaged at New England Aquarium, and then flown to NC by Turtles Fly Too. Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center received 20 of the turtles.
The turtles are gradually warmed in water and receive check-ups in the clinic before they can be eventually shipped south and released into the sea.
If you spot a cold-stunned turtle, do not touch it or put it back in the water. Call either the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center or the NC Wildlife Resources Commission.
