Columbus Co. bridge set to reopen

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A bridge located near a fire and rescue department near Nakina is set to reopen at the end of the week.

NCDOT officials said the replacement of the bridge over the Big Cypress Swamp on Ramsey Ford Road is complete. The 41-year-old bridge replacement project started at the beginning of the year after it was considered structurally deficient.

This project was one of 12 bridges in a $7.8 million contract with Smith-Rowe LLC, according to a news release. The project is part of the State Funded Bridge Replacement program.
