UPDATE: Suspect arrested in Columbus Co. murder Sunday

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Columbus County Sheriff’s office arrested a man in connection to a murder Sunday afternoon.

Sheriff Lewis Hatcher said they responded to a gunshot wound around 3:15 p.m. at 553 Pocosin Road near Lake Waccamaw. When they arrived, they found Eric Bowen, 43, unresponsive with a gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead at Columbus Regional Healthcare System.

Hatcher said foul play is suspected.

Investigators developed Dedrick O’Keith Anders, 50,  as a person of interest. Through further investigation, Anders was charged with Bowen’s murder.
