Columbus County announces results following ‘Halloween Booze it & Lose it’ campaign

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Columbus County Sheriff’s Office conducted a Halloween Booze it and Lose it campaign to keep community members safe on the road.

The Heavy Enforcement Action Team conducted three checking stations and four saturation and random patrol operations. These efforts resulted in 131 traffic violations and numerous criminal charges.

The Sheriff’s Office reports 14 drugs violations, four speeding violations, 25 driving with license revoked, four safety belt violations, eight child passenger safety violations, two uninsured motorists, three felony arrests, six wanted persons apprehended, three other criminal violations and 62 other traffic violations.

Columbus County Sheriff Bill Rogers appreciates the Heavy Enforcement Action Team for their efforts to ensure safety.

“Our H.E.A.T. unit shows time and time again that proactive enforcement saves lives. Every checkpoint, every patrol, and every stop brings us one step closer to preventing tragedies on our roadways. I’m proud of their commitment to keeping our citizens safe,” Rogers said.
